Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has said that the aspiration of the common people to get quality medicine is being looked at seriously. On Tuesday, Minister Poudel said that while understanding the report of the Drug Price Policy Suggestion Committee at the Drug Administration Department, the aspirations of citizens to get quality drugs and the responsibility of the state are also being looked at seriously.

Basically, the aspiration of common citizens to get quality medicine and the responsibility of the state will be looked at seriously. We are trying to create a situation in which quality medicines can be obtained, if there is a situation where we have to buy medicines at high prices, to end them and to create a situation where consumers are informed about the price of medicines,' he said.

Economist and coordinator of the committee formed to make suggestions regarding price adjustment of medicines, Poshraj Pandey said that the suggestions were presented based on the characteristics, nature and importance of medicines used in Nepal. He claimed that the situation of domestic production of medicine in Nepal was also presented.

'What is our suggestion, what are the characteristics of the drugs used in Nepal? What is its nature? What is the significance of that? What is the state of domestic production? Also,  How is the price rate of these products in Asian countries mainly in India? What is the situation in Bangladesh? We have also reviewed how it has been done in Sri Lanka. Similarly, what is the institutional capacity of our drug administration department? We have also kept that,' he said.
