The Biratnagar Metropolitan Municipality has decided to close all the schools in the metropolis for three days as the risk to the health of the students may increase due to the rising temperature.
Ramprasad Dhungel, the chief administrative officer of the metropolis, said that this decision was taken after the complaints of the parents that the students could not go to school and study regularly due to the extreme heat. According to him, the schools will be reopened only after the rains create a suitable environment for teaching. He said, 'This decision had to be taken as there is a possibility that the risk to the health of children may increase due to the heat.'
Not only Biratnagar but other local levels of Koshi province have also made the same decision. Many local levels in the terai region of Koshi, including Itahari sub-metropolitan municipality and Inaruwa municipality, have already decided to close schools .
The Metropolitan Municipality has also requested the parents to take special care of their children's health and study at home.
