A corruption case has been filed against Rambabu Mahato Koiri, the then engineer (7th level) of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, on the charge of acquiring illegal wealth.

Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a case against Koiri in a special court on Monday with a sum of Rs 458,97,403. It is mentioned in the charge sheet filed in the special court that Koiri has acquired illegal wealth by misusing his position.

Kshireshwarnath municipality-5 (formerly Naktajizh gavis) of Dhanusha and currently living in Chandol of Kathmandu, Koiri entered public service in 2046. Authority since service entry on 30 February 2078  During the period up to , Koiri's movable and immovable property was investigated. During this time, the financial transactions in various banks and financial institutions, cooperatives, land, insurance, investment in educational institutions, etc., have been found to be more assets that have been kept in bad condition than the assets that have been opened. The authority filed a case against this source of undisclosed property as property acquired through corruption. The authority has demanded to confiscate the movable and immovable property which has been increased from undisclosed property.

During the period Koiri was in public service, legitimate resources equal to 3337 lakh 79 thousand 434 rupees were opened and the account of investment and income expenditure during this period was found to be equal to 7 crore 96 lakh 76 thousand 804 rupees.

It is also mentioned in the indictment of the authority that Koiri invested illegal assets in various areas and hid them. After it was found that the illegal assets were hidden in the name of the family members, the authority also made the wife Malakumari Mahato a defendant for the purpose of confiscating the assets.
