The Morang District Court has sentenced three people including the chairman to imprisonment, fine and fines for misappropriating crores of rupees of Biratnagar-based Tulsi Multiple Co-operative Society.
A single bench of District Judge Sita Sharma Adhikari on Thursday sentenced Kedarnath Sharma, president of the cooperative, to 6 years imprisonment, fine of Rs. In addition, Shrestadar Mani Pokharel of the district court informed that the court has also ordered to pay 27 million 36 thousand 850 rupees to the victims' relief fund.
Similarly, Mandeep Khawas, regional manager of the cooperative, has been sentenced to 2 years and 2 months imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 27 lakhs and the same fine. He has been ordered to deposit 1 lakh 8 thousand rupees in the relief fund. The secretary of
cooperative, Savina Neupane, has been ordered to be imprisoned for 2 years and pay 600 rupees to the victims' relief fund.
The victims have been demanding justice time and again saying that the huge amount collected from the members in the name of the cooperative was embezzled. The latest court verdict has given relief to the victims who have been waiting for justice for a long time.
