The government of Nepal has set a minimum salary of 1000 dirhams for Nepali workers going to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Now the government will not verify the demands of employers who demand labor for less than this.
Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Sharatsingh Bhandari has decided on Thursday to determine the minimum salary of workers going to the UAE. UAE is an attractive destination for Nepali workers. However, the minimum salary of Nepali workers working in UAE was very low 800 dirhams,' he told Kantipur, 'We have determined the new salary on the recommendation of the Nepali Embassy in UAE.' According to which, 1000 dirhams for non-skilled, 1200 dirhams for semi-skilled and 1500 dirhams for skilled have been determined. ``There is a big relief for the workers who work for low wages . We will send it to the relevant embassy," he said, "UAE itself has not set a minimum salary. The government of Nepal has determined the salary based on the market conditions. The embassy will not verify the application below this . Employers who do not pay this salary will not be able to hire Nepali workers. There are currently 7 lakh Nepalis working in the UAE.
