The meeting of the House of Representatives is being interrupted continuously due to the visit visa issue. The meeting called for 1 o'clock on Wednesday has been postponed to 3:15 p.m. by the Federal Parliament Secretariat. But even after 3:15, there is no chance to hold a meeting.
The meeting of the House of Representatives was also interrupted on Tuesday due to lack of agreement between the ruling party and the opposition on the visit visa issue. The opposition parties demanded that the home minister should be allowed to address the meeting on Tuesday, but the formation of the inquiry committee should be announced. However, after the ruling UML and Congress took the stand that another judicial or parliamentary inquiry committee cannot be formed as the Commission on Abuse of Authority is investigating the visit visa case, the meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned till 1 pm on Wednesday.
The third meeting of the House of Representatives has been disrupted over the visit visa issue. Earlier, the meeting called for May 13 and 14 was interrupted by the opposition parties.
In the case of visit visa, the opposition parties have reiterated their old stand that Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar should resign and help in the investigation. In the meeting of the chief vigilantes called by Speaker Devraj Ghimire at the Parliament House on Wednesday afternoon, the main opposition party Maoist said that the old position remains intact.
Maoist chief whip Hitraj Pandey, who participated in the meeting, says that there was no agreement as the government side was not ready for the resignation of the home minister and the formation of an inquiry committee. He said, 'When the government talked about opening the House without doing both of these things, there was no agreement. We have said that the Home Minister should pave the way to help the inquiry committee. Our main issue is that there should be an independent investigation into the setting of the visit visa.' Pandey also said that if the government is not ready to meet these demands, the obstruction will continue in the House.
