An investigation into the death case against Maoist Center Vice President and former Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota will be conducted. The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court has ordered the government to conduct an investigation into the murder case while hearing a 14-year-old writ against Sapkota.

When Sapkota was Minister of Information and Communication, Kanakmani Dixit and other human rights activists filed a writ and demanded that he should be dismissed and prosecuted in District Court Kavre for making a death case convict a minister.

There is an allegation against Sapkota, who is also the Speaker of the House, of murdering Arjun Lama of Kavre while the case is going on. Purnimaya Lama, Arjun's wife, had also filed another writ in the Supreme Court 13 years ago to start an investigation against Sapkota against the Kitani complaint filed at District Police Office Kavre. Similarly, in 2072, human rights activists including Sushil Pyakurel filed another petition in the Supreme Court demanding a case against Sapkota. The Supreme Court has ordered an investigation against Sapkota while hearing these three writs.

The Constitutional Bench of Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, Senior Justice Sapna Malla Pradhan and Justices Kumar Regmi, Manoj Kumar Sharma and Kumar Chundal has issued an order to conduct a criminal investigation into the Kitani complaint filed against Sapkota.

The Supreme Court has issued a writ filed by Purnamaya Lama . The Supreme Court has decided that the writ of journalist Dixit and others will not be met and the writ of Pakurel will be dismissed.
