Snow leopard survey in three municipalities of Mustang

A survey of snow leopards and food species has been started in Mustang. National Nature Conservation Fund, Annapurna Conservation Project Area Conservation Office (ACAP) jointly started a survey of snow leopards and food species in three municipalities here.

ACAP Jomsom office chief Rajesh Gupta said that the survey of snow leopards and adhara species including Uchlenk, Khark, Patan and forest in Thasang, Gharpazhong and Waragung Mukti areas and camera taping of snow leopards and adhara species have been started to find out the overlapping activities of snow leopards and leopards  told.

32 cameras have been managed for this.  Cameras have been placed for surveying the potential habitats of snow leopards and food species from 3,000 meters above sea level to 4,600 meters.

According to Gupta, the head of the office, there is a facility to record the activities of snow leopards and other wild animals through the cameras kept by Acap. Gupta, the head of the office, said that since the camera has the technology to record audio and visual records of wild animals, it will be easier to survey snow leopards and food species.

ECAP has started camera taping to protect and monitor snow leopards and food species in high places including Muktinath, Jhong, Lupra, Chusang, Samar, Tetang, Jomsom Lenk and Marfa's Batase Lenk, from the border grass of Myagdi and Mustang to Sangta. According to Forest Ranger Oli, he managed to tap the cameras for 45 days for the

survey. He said that the cameras placed for the survey were placed at a distance of five kilometers.

Acap Jomsom has said that apart from the survey of snow leopards, this time they will study food species and the overlapping cross of snow leopards and leopards through camera taping. "The habitat of snow leopards and leopards has not been destroyed, the details of how low the snow leopards descend and how high the leopards reach will be studied through camera taping," said Forest Ranger Oli.

Forest Ranger Oli mentioned that a detailed study of the condition of food species will be done through camera taping. In addition to this, Forest Ranger Oli says that the direction of the snow leopard will be collected and lab tests will be conducted to find out the real facts of the snow leopard.

Acap had taped dozens of cameras for snow leopard survey in Upper Mustang and Lower Mustang last year. According to Acap Jomsom, the taping has been started in Lower Mustang last year because the cameras were taping in detail this year.

Acap will thus contribute to the control of possible poaching of wild animals in the high-ranking, Khark and Patan of Mustang through cameras placed to survey the activities of snow leopards and other wild animals  Acap says. As the harvesting season has started in Uchlenk and Patan of the district, camera taping will greatly help the unwanted activities in Uchlenk and Patan. It is indicated.

ACAP forest ranger Oli and other ACAP employees are deployed at the workplace for the survey of snow leopards and food species started by ACAP Jomsom.
