The transport businessmen did not run public transport across the country on Monday with 7 point demands saying that the Gandaki state government has introduced ride sharing regulations against the constitution. Passengers have to suffer due to non-operation of public transport. Long and short distance public vehicles are not running in Kathmandu Valley either. Only shared transport, private motorbikes, cars and some taxis seem to ply on the roads of Kathmandu Valley.

According to Superintendent of Police Deepak Giri, spokesperson of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, public buses, micro buses and tempos are not running. As per the announced program, since the businessmen do not drive vehicles with black number plates, the streets of Kathmandu, which are always busy, look deserted since morning.

We have deployed more than 700 traffic policemen on the streets of Kathmandu to prevent untoward incidents. "The blockaders were not seen on the road," said Giri, "no public rental vehicles were seen on the road." Some are going to the destination by walking and some are using ride sharing like Pathao, Indrive etc.

Saroj Sitaula, the senior vice president of the National Federation of Nepalese Transport Professionals, said that because of the government, they had to start a protest by stopping the rental vehicles. He told Kantipur that if their demands are not met, they may hand over the keys to the government. "We had previously submitted memorandums to all relevant ministries with demands for professional interests, held press conferences, submitted demands to provincial chief ministers, jammed wheels, etc., but the government did not listen," he said. fell The Gandaki state government published in the gazette on 1st of June, the regulation 2082 of section 2 (h) of private vehicles (red plate) should be canceled immediately.
