Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav has said that the contractors who delay in the construction of water supply projects under construction for the distribution of clean, safe and pure drinking water to the citizens will not be given immunity.
On Monday, in an interaction with the stakeholders related to the Kanyam-Panchkanya drinking water scheme under the Federal Water and Sewerage Management Project, Ilam, Minister Yadav said that no excuse for delay in essential services like drinking water will be accepted and contractors who do not complete the project within the stipulated time will be brought under the legal ambit. He said, 'Delaying essential things like food and water is not acceptable. Water supply projects should be completed on time.'
Minister Yadav informed that the contract of the non-working contractor will be canceled due to the complaints of not completing the plan within the specified time . He said, 'I myself have come here to solve the problem of the Kanyam-Panchakanya drinking water scheme. Today the problem must be solved. Either the contractor should work, or the contract should be cancelled.'
Suryodaya Municipality Chief Ran Bahadur Rai, Deputy Chief Durg Kumar Baral, Water Supply Ministry Secretary Pramiladevi Shakya Bajracharya, Nepal Air Service Corporation President Yuvraj Adhikari, Water Supply and Sewerage Management Department Director General Ram Kumar Shrestha and others participated in the event.
With the aim of making basic drinking water services accessible to the people, the government had formulated a comprehensive climate-adapted water supply project under the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management from the financial year 2068/69. Under the same project, federal drinking water and sewerage management project is being constructed in Suryodaya Municipality-3, 6-8, 10-14, Ilam Municipality-10 and Rong Village-3 at Kanyam Panchkanya water supply project site, Ilam informed.
