The Rashtriya Prajatantra Party has said that the sit-in will continue until Kamal Thapa, the president of RPP Nepal, who was arrested from Naxal in Kathmandu, is released.
RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said that the police arrested Thapa during a peaceful protest and said that the sit-in would continue until Thapa was released. "We will continue the sit-in until President Thapa is released," he said.
Leaders and activists of RPPA, RPPA Nepal are currently staging a sit-in in Naxal-Narayanchaur.
After Thapa's arrest, RPP President Rajendra Lingden warned the government not to consider the peaceful protest as a weakness. "If you consider our peaceful protest as a weakness, we will take out a rally from the 50th place in the coming days," he said, "Kamal Thapa should be released respectfully."
He said that 'street movement against robbery' should be increased.
RPRPA, RPRPA Nepal and various pro-royalty groups have been protesting since June 15 with demands including the restoration of the monarchy.
