Founder Chairman of Karnali Bikas Bank Rajendraveer Rai arrested

Karnali Bikas Bank founder chairman and then chief executive officer Rajendraveer Rai has been arrested. He was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Saturday from Belhia in Rupandehi on the charge of embezzling more than 2.5 billion rupees from the bank.

Rai was on the run after being accused of misappropriating money in the bank. CIB Chief AIG Chandrakuber Khapung informed that Rai was arrested in the embezzlement case of the bank.

The founding chairman of Karnali Bikas Bank opened in 2060, Rai served as CEO from 076 to 079. In the meantime, he worked as the chairman of the board of directors several times. According to the CIB, an investigation has been initiated against Rai under the Banking Offenses and Punishment Act. Salyan's opinion recently 

is a permanent resident of Banke. According to CIB chief Khapung, other people involved in this case are also under investigation. According to AIG Khapung, the bank's former CEO Dinesh Kumar Rawat, former head of finance department Ved Prakash Thakuri and current CEO and head of finance department Niraj Vikram Shah were also involved in the investigation. 

After allegations of embezzlement in the bank, an investigation committee was formed on December 5 under the chairmanship of the bank's board of directors chairman Om Prakash Mishra. The committee had given the opinion that the person with the opinion of irregularity had embezzled more than 1 billion 26 million rupees and should be sent to the relevant agency for investigation.
