The 13th edition of the Kantipur Half Marathon, which is organized every year as a prestigious city run through the 13th Kantipur Half Marathon, has started a little while ago.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the marathon.
The theme of this year's Kantipur Half Marathon, presented by Global IME Bank, is 'Let's Run for a Greener Tomorrow'. The half marathon has started from the Central Business Park premises of the organizer Kantipur Publications Limited at Thapathali.
This edition of Kantipur Half Marathon will be contested in four categories. Both sides will have separate events for men and women. Half marathon will be 21.1 km, college run 7 km, corporate and celeb run 5 km and wheelchair race 3 km. More than 3,500 will participate in all categories. The highest participation is in the corporate category, while almost 1000 people have registered for the half marathon. The male and female winners of the half marathon will win a prize of Rs 1 lakh 50 each. If he sets a course record in the half marathon, he will win an additional 25,000.
Second to sixth will win 75, 50, 30, 20 and 10 thousand respectively. The wheelchair race winner will win Rs 35,000, second runner-up Rs 25,000 and third runner-up Rs 15,000. Harikumar Rimal in men's and Kanchimaya Koju's in women's course records. Hari's record is 1 hour 6 minutes 41 seconds and Kanchimaya's time is 1 hour 19 minutes 22 seconds. The half marathon will be telecast live from Kantipur Max Television, e-Kantipur.com, Kantipur Event YouTube page.
