New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters had a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. On the occasion of the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, the issues of enhancing bilateral interests, mutual relations and cooperation were discussed.
According to Prime Minister Oli's Secretariat, there is a lot of potential for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, education, trade and investment. Prime Minister Oli informed that the current government has prioritized stability, development, good governance, social justice and social transformation with the national aspiration of prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali.
Deputy Prime Minister Peters praised the efforts made for the development and prosperity of Nepal and insisted on cooperation on issues of common interest of small countries on the international stage. On the occasion of the meeting, high officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present.
On May 29, 1953, the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, was the first to be visited by Tenzing Norge from Nepal and from New Zealand. The relationship between the two countries has become closer since Sir Edmund Hillary's successful ascension.
