Communications and Information Technology Minister and Government Spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the Republic of Nepal came not by bullets but by words.

Answering the questions of mediapersons while announcing the decisions of the Council of Ministers meeting at Singha Durbar on Thursday, Minister Gurung said that he has repeatedly asked the Maoists not to think that the republic in Nepal came from a ballot and not from a bullet.

'In this country, the republic came not by bullets, but by words. Not by bullet, but by ballot. I am teasing that the Maoists said that they will bring the republic with bullets that day did not happen,' said Minister Gurung.

Mentioning that the current ruling party and the opposition are supporters of the republic, he said that it is permissible to criticize and comment on the republic, but that which favors the monarchy and disintegration of the country is anti-constitutional.
