The Congress has set the deadline for the renewal of active membership for the 15th Congress by the end of June. The meeting of the 'Active Membership Management Committee' chaired by General Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa at the party central office in Sanepa on Wednesday decided to renew the active membership within June.

The Congress has not fixed the date of the 15th Congress. But the leaders have already started preparations for the convention. The regular 4-year term of the Congress, which held its 14th convention in 078, ends in mid-November 083. If there is no resolution of the convention during that period, only if there is an extraordinary situation, the deadline can be extended by 1 year.

In the current situation, there is no possibility that the Congress will hold a convention within November 083. But after that, even in the fifth year, the work of the active membership remains the key to decide whether to hold a convention or not. It is an old disease of the Congress that the convention is affected by active membership disputes in the mouth of the convention.

Central member Prakash Snehi Rasaili, who is also a member of the membership management committee, informed that the deadline for the renewal of the active membership for the 15th convention this year is June. 'We have set a deadline for mid-July. The work of many districts is in the process of completion," he said. "By June, we have set a goal to complete the active membership renewal of all 77 districts, including the disputed districts." According to him, there are currently disputes about membership in about 10 districts. Sirha, Bara, Sarlahi, Khotang, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and other districts are among the districts that have such disputes.

Similarly, the committee has also decided to discuss with the disciplinary committee about the 2100 complaints that have not been decided yet after receiving complaints from the party's disciplinary committee. "There have been 2100 complaints about violation of party discipline. Which of them will renew their membership or not? Who has been prosecuted? Who has been given amnesty? Renewal can be decided only after the details of that also come,' he said.  The

committee is going to call for new memberships from July based on the votes of women, Dalits, Madheshis, tribal tribes and marginalized communities including Tharu. Snehi, who is also a central member, said, "Today's meeting has decided to renew the active membership until mid-June and to start distribution of new active membership from July."

The membership management committee headed by General Minister Thapa has central members Prakash Snehi Rasaili, Sita Gurung and Yogendra Chaudhary as members.
