Tirtharaj Bhattarai, joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, who is under the control of the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission, has left to attend when called. The authority released Bhattarai on Wednesday night after giving him the papers.
He has been instructed to appear before the authority on Thursday. He was detained by the authority on Wednesday afternoon for investigation on the charge of sending Nepalis to different countries under the guise of a visit visa.
Bhattarai, who is the chief immigration officer of the Tribhuvan International Airport office, was suddenly dragged to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, the Authority took Bhattarai into custody from the office at the airport.
Before arresting Bhattarai, the authorities seized computers, electronic devices and documents from the airport immigration office. In this case, the Authority has also seized mobile phones, laptops and other documents from Kavita Paudel working in CIT College, Khagendra Subedi from Bhaktapur and Balkrishna Khadka, the operator of Greenline Holidays, a travel agency located in Kathmandu Hattisar. The authority source said that the investigation is ongoing and the arrested person was left to appear when called.
After transferring him, Home decided to send Chief District Officer of Panchthar Bishnu Prasad Koirala as Chief Immigration Officer.
