7 kg, 653 grams of gold, which was being brought in an apple container from Kerung, Tibet, was recovered at Rasuwa Customs on Sunday. But it is not clear who the gold belongs to. The police have arrested the container driver Kishore Bhujel.

DSP Hem Bahadur Shahi, Chief of District Police Office Rasuwa, said that an investigation is underway regarding the seized gold. The police are interrogating the container driver Bhujel. But Bhujel has not opened his mouth about who owns the gold.

'We are interrogating the driver Bhujel time and again. But he says he doesn't know,' said DSP Shahi. Only the residents of Rasuwa have the right to go to Kerung through the border. Empty containers taken from Kathmandu can be taken to Kerung, Tibetan territory, only by drivers who have a pass with Rasuwa permanent address.

According to the same arrangement, a 24-year-old teenager from Gosainkunda rural municipality-5 of Rasuwa took the container to Kerung. Since a 'false bottom' is made in the container, such a structure cannot be made without the consent of the driver or the owner. To make a false bottom, the structure of the container must be damaged.

Police sources say that there is no possibility of bringing the gold by making a 'false bottom' without the driver knowing . But the driver has given an initial statement that he drove the container but did not know about the gold.

This is not the first incident of such a statement. The customs officer says, 'Maybe the stone speaks. But the driver does not speak. DSP Shahi says that in the previous incidents, the statements of the driver or the porter are similar.

That's why  Porters are arrested in most cases of gold recovery so far. But the owner is never found. Gold was recovered several times at Tatopani border, especially before the earthquake. Sometimes the case is decided without finding the owner.

It seems that the theft of gold started from Paithari Rasuwa after the ban on the movement of people from Tatopani to Tibet after the earthquake. According to

sources, the driver or porter is guaranteed in advance not to reveal the owner's identity. The police say that they do not want to tell the owner that if he goes to jail, all the expenses incurred in the process and the care of his family will be guaranteed. Therefore, there is a problem that the owner of the gold is not found, but the porter has to stay in jail.

Bhujel, who was arrested on Sunday, has been prepared by the police to hand over the gold to the customs on Monday (today). The container driver made a 'false bottom' near his seat and brought 7 biscuit-shaped and some small pieces of gold.

Based on the tip-off received by the Rasuwa police, the container No. Ba 4 B 6201 was taken into custody immediately after crossing the Miteri bridge. DSP Shahi went to Rasuwa Naka from the headquarters after receiving the gold medal. He was monitoring the containers coming from the border for a few days based on Suraki. Armed and Nepal Police and Customs personnel checked the container at the checkpoint.

Customs chief Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai informed that the container carrying apples has been seized. The police will hand over the driver to the customs along with the report. There is a provision that the head of customs has the right to deal with the issue of gold worth one crore. But according to the market price, the value of recovered gold is more than 1 crore, so the case will have to be submitted to the district court.

According to Bhattarai, the head of customs said that he will present himself as a slave in the court and submit it to the Nepal Rastra Bank.
