The main route through which Bangladeshi citizens enter Nepal is through the Kakdavitta-Panitanki eastern border crossing, whether it is legal or illegal. After the corona epidemic, surveillance has been tightened at this checkpoint. 'ID Verification' has been made mandatory.

After the latest tension between India and Pakistan, it has been tightened. For about three years, India did not open the way for tourists from third countries including Bangladeshi nationals who want to go to Nepal through this border . Now that situation has been removed .

However, in the case of Bangladeshi citizens, India has not yet agreed to give 'exit'. Especially after the fall of power of Sheikh Hasina, India seems to be stricter on the entry of Bangladeshi citizens . Despite such strictures, some Bangladeshis are trying to enter Nepal through India. Their aim is to enter Nepal using the Indian route.

About two weeks ago, a Bangladeshi citizen who was trying to enter Nepal was arrested by the police of Khoribari, an Indian border region. Now he is in police custody. Bangladeshi citizens are often arrested at the border while trying to enter Nepal. But, last Wednesday, a different and strange incident happened .  A Bangladeshi citizen was arrested from India's Panitanki checkpoint. However, this time he was not going to go to Nepal from India, instead he entered India from Nepal.

Indian security personnel were also surprised to see such a 'reverse route' of Bangladeshi citizens. An officer of the Indian Armed Forces (SSB) responded to the media and said, "The incident of Bangladeshi citizens entering India illegally through Nepal has also made us serious." He had reached India via Mechi with the help of an Indian broker.

Bangladeshis generally look like Indian Bengalis. According to the security agencies, it is difficult to identify them because their appearance, color and language are similar to Bengalis . In particular, Hrudayat Khan fell into the trap of a human trafficker. After being robbed in Kathmandu, he was trying to return to Bangladesh through India. He had neither money nor passport with him.

In a statement given to Indian security personnel, he said, "I reached Kathmandu by air a year ago to go to Serbia." However, even after a long time, there was no flight . On the contrary, both the passport and money were stolen. He was staying at Yashin Hotel in Lazimpat, Kathmandu. There were about two dozen other Bangladeshi nationals in the same hotel, like him flying to European countries including Serbia. Jan was living a dream. Some time ago, Serbia became a visa-free destination for Bangladeshi citizens. Therefore, making Nepal a 'transit', they came to Kathmandu to go to various European countries including Serbia.

Through a Bangladeshi broker named Mohammad Isman, who lives in Kathmandu, he left home with the intention of going to Serbia. However, he was not sent to Serbia for a long time, making various excuses. Meanwhile, all his money ran out. Passport was also confiscated.

Unable to go to Serbia due to lack of finances, Khan finally decided to return to India. He  Only a few entered India with the help of an Indian agent, the SSB intercepted them near the Panitanki bus stop .

Nepal is becoming an alternative route for human trafficking

Nepal is becoming a safe 'transit' for illegal immigrants who want to go to Europe from South Asian countries, according to security agencies.

The tendency of citizens of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan to enter Nepal and try to go to third countries is increasing rapidly. According to the police, foreign nationals in Nepal are trying to enter Europe by making fake passports and documents with the connivance of local agents and some hotel operators. An incident last October is an example, 15 Bangladeshi citizens who came to Kathmandu to Croatia were arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport.

After completing the visa process through the Croatian embassy in India, they use Nepal as an alternative route to reach their destination. For such a trip, they come to Nepal by paying a large amount of money through an agent. It seems that their intention is to stay in Kathmandu and arrange the visa process and then fly to Europe.

Last July, the police in Kathmandu arrested a gang that brought Bangladeshi citizens to Nepal and held them hostage by luring them to send them to Poland. Those arrested were Roshni Rai of Eelam, Tara Nepali of Sindhupalchok along with Bangladeshi citizens Amir Hussain, Mohammad Mosiheur, Salim Mian, Zahagir Alam and Tahmina Begum.

According to the police investigation, the gang extorted 50 thousand to 1 million taka per person from 21 Bangladeshi citizens . Last month, five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Kathmandu on the charge of cheating Bangladeshi nationals by bringing them to Nepal by luring them to send them to various countries in Europe.

Those arrested are 50-year-old Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman, 41-year-old Mohammad Farsad Hussain Chaudhary, 46-year-old Abu Yusuf MD Hansif, and 40-year-old Azim Molik. According to the police, they have been deceiving Bangladeshi citizens by calling them Nepal, showing greed to send them to Australia, Italy, Spain, France, Serbia, Albania and other countries.

Mohammed Hrudayat Khan also fell into the trap of the same gang. His dream of reaching Serbia has finally been stopped by ending up in an Indian jail.
