In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, separate annual reports of two parliamentary committees have been submitted. In the meeting, Chairman of the International Relations and Tourism Committee Rajkishore Yadav presented the 'Annual Report of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, 2082' and Chairman of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee Vimala Subedi presented the 'Annual Report of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, 2081/82'.

 

Chairman of Tourism Committee Yadav informed that 40 meetings have been held since the formation of the committee, and said that these meetings are focused on reviewing policies, programs, implementation and achievements. He also informed that the committee has given instructions on the bill related to the Civil Aviation Authority and the Air Service Authority to make foreign visits more effective.

The committee also gave instructions on improving the condition of the Pashupati Area Development Fund. Chairman Yadav mentioned that committee meetings are important for various sectors and are active in providing necessary suggestions, instructions and attention to government agencies.

According to the rules of the House of Representatives, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are included in the jurisdiction of the committee. It is said that the mandate of the committee is to improve the quality of the work of the ministry through law making, post-legislative examination, monitoring of the budget, guidance and discussion.

It is mentioned in the report that the committee is active in monitoring the functioning of the government and facilitating problem solving in the various dimensions of Nepal's diplomatic relations with other countries as well as in the country's culture, tourism and civil aviation. It has been informed that experiences and learning have been exchanged by visiting other countries including India to improve bilateral relations. The

committee has expressed its commitment to cooperate in research work to make the work of its subordinate agencies more effective in the future, to implement the suggestions and instructions given to various agencies of the government, to coordinate between the government and the media and to lobby for resources.

Similarly, Subedi, the Chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee informed that a total of 118 meetings have been held so far with 64 meetings of the committee and 54 meetings of the sub-committee. According to him, the committee has given necessary advice, suggestions and instructions to the concerned bodies to respect, protect and promote human rights.

In addition, it is mentioned in the report that the committee has given constructive opinions, advice and instructions to the government and related agencies in establishing a public welfare and legal state by making positive improvements in the field of law and justice. The scope of work of the

committee includes the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Judicial Council, the Judicial Service Commission, the Attorney General's Office, human rights, international treaties/agreements, peace processes, the implementation of fundamental rights and related subjects and bodies.

Chairperson Subedi has said that the committee has an important role in guiding the creation of legal documents to regulate the Prime Minister and human behavior of the country.

She gave information that the committee has been discussing with the relevant agencies and giving various opinions, advices and instructions to prevent human rights violations while protecting and promoting human rights. Four bills submitted to the

committee were discussed and passed. It is mentioned in the report that a subject sub-committee has been formed for on-site monitoring and monitoring of various bills to carry out specific tasks related to the scope of the committee, monitoring of juvenile correctional homes and discussions on the functioning of the human rights sector.

Chairperson Subedi has pointed out the need for coordination and cooperation between the parties to make the committee more active in the future, to make the committee rich with resources, and to improve the coordination and relationship between the government and the committee.
