The Girubari river bridge that washed away due to overloaded vehicles in Chormara under the East-West highway on Monday night will be repaired before the rains.
The road department has conducted on-site monitoring and since it will take 15 days to repair the bridge, it has started the work immediately and prepared for traffic operation before the rains.
Even though transport is currently being carried out using the internal road from Chormara, as the level of the river will rise when the rains start, it is seen that the transport will not be able to be carried out, so the repair work will be carried forward immediately.
Lalijan Khanal, head of the bridge division under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, has informed that the technical team of the division has made a repair plan after conducting on-site monitoring on the day of the bridge collapse.
He said, 'There is a plan to start the bridge repair immediately. Traffic will be repaired before the rains. But repairing the bridge alone will not solve the problem, it is seen that overloaded vehicles should be regulated first. Bridges are getting damaged due to overload.'
