The government has established a Commission of Inquiry into Disappeared Persons and a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Prithvi Subba Gurung, Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, informed that it was decided to appoint the chairperson and members of both commissions in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee of Inquiry into Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2071 at the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday evening.
The Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is Mahesh Thapa of (Sankhuvasabha) and the members are Achutprasad Bhandari (Jajarkot), Dr Tika Prasad Dhakal (Panchthar), Padma Bahadur Shahi (Jumla) and Kumari Kaushal Ojha (Kanchanpur).
Similarly, Leeladevi Gadtaula (Tehrathum) is the chairperson of the inquiry commission for missing persons and Gopalnath Yogi (Salyan), Agni Prasad Thapalia (Jhapa), Srijan Pokharel (Kathmandu) and Vinita Nepali (Kaski) are members.
