Professional climbing has started since Wednesday morning after the roping team opened the route on Friday afternoon. At least 40 local and foreign climbers reached the summit of Mount Everest on Wednesday despite bad weather.
According to Gautam Himal, director of the tourism department, 40 climbers from three different companies reached the summit of the world's highest peak, Everest, on Wednesday morning.
For this climbing season, 7 Nepali mountain guides working in ATK Expedition from the second camp of Everest to the peak completed the work of making the road by hanging the rope on Friday afternoon. According to director Gautam, 'After the mountain guides opened the way to the peak on Friday, climbing for this season has started from Wednesday.'
On Wednesday, 8 Chinese, 6 Ukrainians, 2 Czechs, 1 American and 1 Japanese climbers reached the summit of Mount Everest. According to the department, 22 Nepalese guides and Sherpas who assisted them in climbing also successfully climbed Mount Everest.
By Sunday, the department has issued permits to 119 climbing teams to climb 26 mountains including Everest. In which 240 women and 887 men, 1127 people from 57 countries including Nepal are participating.
Of these, 45 climbing teams have received the highest number of permits to climb Mt. There are 456 people including 84 women and 372 men. Similarly, 107 people have received permission to climb the Lhotse Himal and 76 people for the Nupse Himal, which is next to the Everest. According to the department, there are currently at least 1,000 natives and foreigners in the Everest base camp, including the climbers and their helpers who have obtained permission to climb these three mountains.
The department has collected Rs 773.5 million salami dues by issuing all mountain climbing permits.
Meanwhile, three foreign climbers have died in this climbing season and 2 Nepali guides are missing. According to Director Gautam, so far three foreign climbers have died in Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Amadablam mountains, while 2 Nepalese Sherpas are missing in Annapurna mountain.
