Traffic on the east-west highway has come to a standstill after the Chormara bridge between the Kawasoti-Dumkiwas section broke down on Monday night.
The highway was blocked due to the broken steel bridge 42 km west of Narayangadh. Hundreds of vehicles traveling east-west were stopped at Chormara and Arunkhola as the bridge was slightly under pressure, police said.
'The bridge has been broken, a team including District Police Chief Yadav Dhakal has gone to monitor it. The highway is blocked, said DSP Madhu Nepal.
4 months after the iron bridge of Dumkiwas east of Nawalparasi under the east-west highway was broken, Chormara bridge of a similar nature was broken.
