In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, the MPs have demanded the immediate rescue of Nepalis stranded in foreign employment.
During the emergency meeting, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MP Gyan Bahadur Shahi said that 469 Nepalis were held hostage in Jubail, Saudi Arabia and demanded the government to rescue them immediately. He drew the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security for the rescue of Nepalis held hostage in foreign lands.
Alerting that Nepalis going for foreign employment are constantly being cheated, he demanded to rescue the Nepalis who are in trouble in foreign countries.
Congress MP Rama Koirala Poudel demanded the establishment of a tripartite labor commission for the management of the entire labor sector while protecting the rights and interests of the workers. She held the view that the problems seen in foreign employment can be solved by arranging a commission with the representation of the government, employers, and workers.
