Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ram Nath Adhikari has said that Nepal is at high risk in terms of disasters and calamities.

The Minister said this while addressing the Ministerial Conference on Integrated Multilateral Risk Early Warning held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

He said that Nepal is at a high risk of various types of disasters due to its geography, which extends from the plains of the Terai to the high Himalayan regions, and that every year events such as floods, landslides, droughts, cold waves, lightning, and avalanches cause great damage, destruction of infrastructure, and serious effects on economic activities. 

According to the secretariat of the minister, on that occasion, he will include risk information in national and local development plans, enhance institutional capacity and deliver life-saving information to sensitive communities in a timely manner. in action  He said that Nepal is committed.

'Climate change has increased the frequency and uncertainty of risks, and communities in remote and mountainous areas are suffering the most,' he said. 

A common approach among member countries for a climate resilient and effective early warning system and  He said that Nepal emphasized on cooperation. In the joint project of the Government of Sri Lanka and the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System, the conference discussed risk and early warning and integrated efforts in African and Asian countries  .
