Today is the 26th of Baisakh, i.e. the 73rd Law Day. Law Day is being celebrated today to strengthen public trust in the judiciary and to promote judicial governance while ensuring everyone's access to justice.
This is a special day for those who are interested in the field of law and justice. After the establishment of democracy in the year 2007, the Supreme Court Act was promulgated in the year 2008, and this day was started to be celebrated as Law Day in commemoration of the day when King Tribhuvan put the red seal on 26th Baisakh in 2009.
The act was published in the gazette of January 8, 2009 and the Supreme Court was established and the current Supreme Court was established on the basis of that Act. The establishment of an independent, impartial and neutral judiciary by separating the judiciary from the executive, the rule of law and the modern justice system is considered to be the birth of Shri Ganesh from that day.
President Ramchandra Poudel was the chief guest and special guest Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the presence of this day is being celebrated by a special program here this afternoon under the auspices of the Supreme Court.
