Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has claimed that the current issue of transitional justice will be addressed by the government.
He made this claim while speaking at a program on "Progress so far in the implementation of the Second National Action Plan and future directions" held in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission and the National Network of Conflict Victims and "The Story Kitchen" in Lalitpur on Thursday. He claimed that the government has moved forward to address the issue of transitional justice.
He said that this government was formed to address the priority issues of the country such as providing stability in the country, providing good governance and transitional justice. The recommendation committee informed that the government will proceed according to the agreement between the political parties involved in the government.
He said that if the current situation of transitional justice is confused or blocked in any name, it will take a lot of time and a lot of trouble to bring it back to the rhythm for the second time . He requested the recommendation committee to make recommendations in an independent, fair and transparent manner. He mentioned that the matter of representation of the victims can be discussed with the recommendation committee. If that is not possible, in the new amendment, a 'victim coordination unit' has been established in the Act and it can be made more clear in the regulations.
He said that leaving the victims out of the transitional justice process will not conclude the transitional justice process properly.
The Home Minister said, "This government will leave the issue of transitional justice after addressing it." We have made progress on that, I want to make that commitment. This government was formed to address the country's priority issues such as providing stability in the country, providing good governance, and such transitional justice. The government has moved strongly. We proceed according to the consensus reached between the political parties involved in the government The process of transitional justice will not be properly concluded by keeping the victims out of the process of transitional justice.'
Home Minister Akbar has said that transitional justice will be addressed by keeping the victims at the center.
