BJP leader Bhagatsingh Koshyari has started political meetings with his arrival in Kathmandu less than a week after the return of Bharatiya Janata Party's foreign department chief Vijay Phathaiva.
After Koshyari met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at his residence in Khumlatar on Thursday, he had a meeting with Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar at the minister's residence in the evening with dinner.
When tensions between India and Pakistan were increasing, Koshyari met the power and opposition leaders. Koshyari had discussed the security situation with the home minister, saying that the open border with Nepal could be misused by terrorists.
Koshyari, who is also knowledgeable about Nepal affairs, is also the Indian coordinator of the Enlightened Persons Group (EPG) formed to give suggestions on issues such as the Nepal-India border review.
According to Home Minister Ramesh the author, Koshyari said that Nepal-India relations should be developed and carried forward. When the tension between the two countries was rising after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Koshyari was concerned about the security situation with the Home Minister.
