Today, '10th National Journalism Day' is being celebrated with various programs. National Journalism Day is celebrated on Baisakh 24th, i.e. today, on the occasion of the publication of Gorkhapatra. After the government approved the celebration of Journalism Day nationally in the year 2073, this day started to be celebrated on 24th Baisakh.

The weekly publication of Gorkhapatra started from 24 Baisakh 1958. Gajendra Kumar Thakur, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology expressed his belief that the 10th Journalism Day will encourage the journalism world and develop responsible journalism as well as provide encouragement and inspiration to the new generation.
