Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed serious dissatisfaction with the policies and programs of the government presented by the President on May 19. He mentioned that the policies and programs are far away from the current reality related to the standard of living of the people.
Speaking in Parliament, the Speaker said, 'Policies and programs have neither reviewed the past, nor seem to have a plan to deal with the current crisis. It has been unable to address the deep needs of the people and the nation.'
He said that the language of the policies and programs presented by the government was abstract, formal and uninspiring, and it was a serious sign that the parliamentarians of the ruling party remained silent. "When there is no enthusiasm among our own parliamentarians, such a policy program cannot win the hearts of the common people," he clarified.
President Dahal commented that he has failed to prioritize national priority issues such as agriculture, water resources, forests, tourism, education, health, employment, federalism and social justice. According to him, policies and programs have not been able to clarify the government's approach to justice, equality and inclusive democracy.
He expressed deep concern about the current trend of power and said, 'It is a sad matter that the state is run under the pressure of interest groups and narrow alliances. The democratic culture of respecting criticism is weakening.'
Similarly, President Dahal mentioned the need for a comprehensive rethinking of policies and programs and urged the government to bring people-oriented, practical and production-oriented programs. He appealed to the government to communicate with the people, understand the reality and focus on long-term solutions.
