We will draw the attention of the world by showing climate related issues in the Everest Dialogue: Foreign Secretary Rai

Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai has said that the world's attention will be drawn by exposing the climate-related problems faced by the Himalayan communities through the Everest Dialogue.

In a program organized by Jana Mancha in Lalitpur today before the Everest Dialogue, he mentioned that the impact of climate change is threatening the human civilization of the Himalayan region and said that such problems will be brought to the attention of the world by discussing them.

'The global discussion on the crisis faced by human civilization due to climate change', Foreign Secretary Rai said, 'We will discuss climate change, mountains and human future in the Everest dialogue.'

He said that while the climate dialogue is being held in the world, the issue of the Himalayas is not raised much. "Himalayas were not mentioned even in the Paris agreement, small countries are facing a crisis of existence," he said.

Similarly, Thakur Bhandari, President of the Community Forest Consumer Federation, emphasized that 80 percent of the climate adaptation fund budget should be spent at the local level. "The contribution of community forests should be discussed in the Everest dialogue and Nepal should put forward the agenda in order to draw the attention of the international community to the impact of climate on consumers," he said.

Chairman of Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations Nepal, Arjun Bhattarai emphasized that there should be a debate on the Everest dialogue by including the views of all stakeholders. Various campaigns, federations, networks, alliances, organizations, women's groups, small farmers, activists, environment and human rights defenders, children, disabled people, minorities, tribals, mountain and plateau communities, marginalized communities and front-line communities have organized the public forum.  Gita Pandey, a member of the secretariat, informed that by advancing the voices of the community and those working on the front lines through the public forum, there has been help in solving the climate challenge, promoting climate justice and including the concerns of marginalized communities in the Everest Dialogue 2025.
