Resham Choudhary, the patron of Civil Liberation Party (NAUPA), has been arrested. Chaudhary was detained by the police on Wednesday afternoon from Pragya Bhawan premises, the venue of the event, when the unity with the Janamat Party led by CK Raut was about to be announced.
Security personnel in plain clothes reached Pragya Bhawan and arrested him. Chaudhary was arrested to implement the order of the Supreme Court, said SP Apilraj Bohora of Kathmandu Police Complex. He said that Chaudhary was taken to Dillibazar jail and handed over. He said, 'We have arrested him to implement the judgment of the Supreme Court. After the arrest, we have taken it to Dillibazaar and delivered it.'
In August 2072, due to the incident in Tikapur, Chaudhary was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court. However, he was released from Dillibazar Jail on the basis of amnesty granted by the government on 15th June 2080 on the occasion of Republic Day.
According to police sources, he was arrested after the Supreme Court overturned the verdict of amnesty.
In a similar case, the full bench of the Supreme Court ordered the immediate cancellation of Minaha's imprisonment imposed by President Ramchandra Paudel on Regal Yogprasad Dhakal. Also, the bench also ordered Regal to be re-arrested and jailed.
