Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that eye health will be adjusted in the National Health Insurance Program. He said this while inaugurating an international conference called 'In Sight of Live 2030' organized here today by organizations working in the field of eye health.
He committed to sustainable development goals He said that adjustment of eye health in the primary health care system and essential services has been prioritized, especially considering those who are at risk of vision loss.
Mentioning that the rapid assessment of preventable blindness in Nepal has been completed in 2022 and that it has helped to guide our national priorities, Prime Minister Oli informed that there is a commitment to increase effective cataract surgery coverage from 35/45 to 75 percent by 2030 in the health sector strategic plan.
He emphasized on global cooperation as no country can reach the destination by walking alone. Stating that eye health is now considered a part of public health infrastructure, he also said that equality and gender access in education has been expanded by conducting eye tests and nurse programs at the school level.
