Under the east-west highway, the repair and expansion work will be done by stopping the traffic during the night for another 15 days in Nawalparasi. In order to expand the road in the lower area under the Narayangadh-Butwal road, traffic will be closed until the 31st of Baisakh.
The road department has issued a notice saying that traffic will be stopped for 6 hours daily from 11 pm to 5 am until Baisakh 31st.
According to Bhavishwar Pandey, Chief District Officer of Nawalrasi (Bardghat Susta East), traffic will be closed from 11 pm to 5 am every day until the next Baisakh 31 as the construction work will continue for a few more days.
'In order to carry out the necessary road maintenance and construction work in the lower section, the construction work has now been accelerated by stopping the operation of vehicles at night,' he said.
Before this, road expansion work is being done by banning the operation of non-essential vehicles from 27th of Chait to 31st of Chait from 11am to 3am and from 1st of May 2082 from 11pm to 5am. Engineer Shiv Khanal, the information officer of the eastern section, said that the hill cutting, walling and culvert construction are currently being done in the lower section.
Butwal-Narayangadh Road Extension Project West Section Information Officer Shashank Mishra said that the expansion work is being done by stopping traffic to complete the work quickly.
During the road closure, arrangements have been made to stop eastbound cargo vehicles at Arunkhola-Chormara area and Dumkibas area for passenger and small vehicles. The road department has requested to stop traffic in Bardghat and Jamire areas to the west.
Within the 114 km Narayangadh-Butwal road, out of the 65 km from Gaindakot to Daune, there is a service lane in the market area and the 14 km section of Daune, which is considered to be a high-risk area, is being extended to a three-lane road.
The China State Engineering Corporation, which got the road construction contract at a cost of 17 billion rupees, has extended the deadline three times so far. After the work was not completed within the stipulated time, the deadline extended for the third time is till 8th July 2082.
