MBBS seats cannot be increased: Dr. Casey

Dr. has been struggling for improving the quality of medical education and health services for a long time. Govind KC has said that MBBS seats will not be increased.

While returning to Nepal after serving the earthquake victims of Myanmar, Dr. KC said that when he arrived in Yangon, the resident doctors were on strike and that a committee formed by the Ministry of Health was preparing to increase MBBS seats from 100 to 150.

MBBS seats should not be increased even one seat beyond the current number and he has called to address the demand of resident doctors suffering from labor exploitation from private medical colleges . In addition, he said to immediately implement the agreements made with them in the past. In addition to that, strongly demanding the government to meet the earlier demands mentioned in the press release issued on March 31st, he said that if it is not done, he will be forced to do satyagraha after returning to Nepal.

He said that due to the tireless efforts and pressure of the common Nepalese, the Medical Education Act was implemented and the Medical Education Commission was formed. He said that despite the repeated illegal interference of various self-interested groups, the officials of the commission are doing satisfactory work and the students and common Nepalis have benefited.

'With the change in the leadership of the officials in the commission, the existence of the Medical Education Act is in a state of loss due to the unbridled and shameless intervention of the wrong elements mentioned above,' the statement issued by him on Tuesday said, 'It is not known that a large section of the citizens has thrown an ax on their knees by engaging in thugs, frauds and sorceries.'
