Baisakh Krishna Aunsi: Today is the festival of seeing the mother's face

Today is Baisakh Krishna Aunsi. Mother's face festival is celebrated today to honor the mother who gave birth. During this festival, it is customary to celebrate the mother with reverence and devotion by giving sweet food to the mother.

There is a classical tradition that this festival is taken as a day to show reverence, devotion, honor and respect to the mother who is considered to be greater than Upadhyaya (Pandit), Acharya and father in the scriptures and to seek blessings from her.

It is customary for children to wake up early in the morning, bathe, dress their mothers in nice clothes and bless them by giving them sweet and refreshing food. Those who don't have a mother remember their late mother and the great and difficult work she did by giving tarpan and pinda to the mother and giving food to the priest.

In Sanatan Vedic scriptures, it is said that every woman must pay the debt of God, the debt of man and the debt of her father. Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, a theologian and a member of the Nepal Panchang Jury Committee, says that in the Vedic Sanatan scriptures, 'Janani Janmabhoomisch Swargadapi Gariyasi' means that the mother who gives birth and the birth place are greater and dearer than heaven.

Mother is more important than others because she carries the child for nine months and gives it life. He said that it is mentioned in classical texts that the importance of mother is thousand times more than that of father. Because of this importance, the living mother is honored and made happy by giving her sweet food and good clothes.

Tarpan, pindadaan and sidadaan are done with devotion in the name of the deceased mother. Bhattarai, a theologian, said that there is a classical belief that on the day of Vaishakhrishna Aunsi, the departed mother will be blessed by doing Shradhan with tarpan, pindaan and sidadaan.

On this occasion, a fair is held today at Matatirtha in Chandragiri Municipality.  City chief Ghanshyam Giri informed that all the preparations for the fair in Matatirtha have been completed. The committee said that the propaganda that one should not look at the mother's face is not true because this year Jupiter is setting and the solar eclipse will be seen in some countries of the world.
