After the order of the Supreme Court, the Bhutanese refugees are released from prison

Four Bhutanese refugees who were arrested after entering Nepal via Bhutan after being 'deported' from America were released from prison on Friday. They have been sent to refugee camps after the Supreme Court ordered their release.

After being 'deported' by the US, four young men landed at Paro Airport in Bhutan on March 14 through Delhi. But after Bhutan refused, they entered Nepal illegally through Indian territory. 3 of them were arrested on 15 March from Beldangi refugee camp in Jhapa and another one from Bahundangi in Jhapa. They were detained by the local police office, Kakadvitta, and were being investigated by the immigration office.

While hearing the writ of arrest filed by Narayan Kumar Subedi of Beldangi, the Supreme Court has ordered them to be transferred from the police office and to complete the investigation within 60 days. After the

order, Bhutanese refugees Ashish Subedi, Santosh Darji and Ashok Gurung expressed their desire to stay in Beldangi camp in Jhapa and Roshan Tamang in Pathri Shanishare camp in Morang. A rights activist informed that they were taken to the respective refugee camp in Rohbar. According to the order of the Supreme Court, they are allowed to move only within the respective municipality and have to be physically present at the nearest police station every seven days.
