Minister of State for Energy Tamang was dismissed by Prime Minister Oli. Prime Minister Oli was displeased with Tamang for advocating for Kulman Ghising, who was recently removed from the Executive Director of the Electricity Authority, and asking for an explanation from Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya.
While the government was proceeding with the process to remove Ghising as the executive director, Tamang had been holding a different opinion. Tamang's bitterness increased with Energy Minister Deepak Khadka over the issue of Ghising. Khadka had repeatedly requested Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba to remove the state minister.
Last March 28, Tamang asked Ministry Secretary Suresh Acharya for a 24-hour explanation saying that he had boycotted the program he participated in. Secretary Acharya left the venue without going to the stage when the announcer called to take his seat at the program of the Water Resources and Irrigation Department where the Minister of State was the chief guest. Secretary Acharya has not given the answer to the clarification asked by the Minister of State for Energy.
After that, Tamang also cast his vote in the meeting called by Prime Minister Oli to discuss the budget for the next financial year. After the Prime Minister mentioned that the budget cannot be allocated for projects of less than 30 million rupees, Tamang said that projects of up to 20 million rupees are also needed in his home district Ramechhap.
According to an official of the Ministry of Energy, Tamang was asked to meet the Prime Minister and apologize. But he said that it was not his fault and replied that he would not apologize. Tamang said that Prime Minister Oli had asked for his resignation through Home Minister Ramesh Ukhtar before taking the decision to dismiss him.
After the dismissal, he said, 'An hour ago (Wednesday at 5 pm), the Home Minister called and asked for his resignation. I said that the party sent me, the party should call me back, I should not resign. Then he was dismissed. He said that the matter of his dismissal will be discussed within the party and the party will take a decision.
