Today is the 19th Democracy Day across the country. It is being celebrated by various programs including paying homage to the martyrs who gave their precious lives in the democratic and democratic struggle.

The then King Gyanendra Shah restored the dissolved parliament on May 8, 2059 and removed himself as the executive head of the country and the tyranny was defeated on May 11, 2063. Democracy Day is celebrated.

On that day, it was said in the declaration of the former King Shah, "The source of state power is the Nepali people and the sovereignty and state power of Nepal is vested in the Nepali people, and the House of Representatives has been re-established in accordance with the public sentiment expressed through the current people's movement."

A meeting of the House of Representatives was called on 15th Baisakh 2063 through the declaration, with the participation of seven political parties and the then rebel Nepal Communist Party (Maoist).

The Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal issued by the Constituent Assembly on October 3, 2072, which was formed by the election of the two Constituent Assembly after the democracy that was established with the strength of the people's movement, brought Nepal into federalism. Accordingly, the federal, state and local level elections have been held twice and now the country is practicing federalism.

In terms of delivering the services provided by the state to the doorsteps of the people in a simple and convenient manner and providing immediate relief and assistance during disasters, the coordination between the federation, state and local levels has been providing effective and positive results.

Meanwhile, expressing their greetings on the occasion of Democracy Day, the leaders of change and peace-loving political parties emphasized that all forces should be united for the prosperity of the country. Since there can be no other system of governance better than democracy, all political forces took this matter to heart. The need to focus on prosperity has been pointed out.

After the 2062/63 movement, Democracy Day has been celebrated since 2065 on the 11th of Baisakh to commemorate the end of the direct and autocratic rule of the then king.
