Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said that Parliament has the responsibility to pass the School Education Bill with priority.
In a meeting organized today to discuss contemporary political issues with the chief whips of various political parties, Speaker Ghimire said that while the community school teachers are protesting demanding the release of the Education Act, the Education Bill should be passed with priority once the Parliament is in session.
'Parliament is under pressure to discuss the budget according to the provisions of the government's policies and programs, economic procedures and financial responsibility act,' Speaker Ghimire said, 'Parliament has the responsibility to pass the school education bill with priority. The teachers have asked to know without bringing the law, they have also asked me to meet and take initiative.' In the
meeting, Speaker Ghimire proposed to hold Parliament on all days except Saturdays and public holidays due to pre-budget discussion, policy and program, budget and school education bill pressure. The meeting approved the proposal. The agenda according to the same will be submitted in the meeting of the Working Arrangement Consultative Committee to be held on 12th Baisakh.
Sub-committee has committed to submit the report within the time period of May 23. Speaker Ghimire stated that the Parliament has prepared to give priority to this report and mentioned that the schedule will be secured to present the bill to the Parliament on any day.
'As soon as the report of the sub-committee is received, the Parliament starts the process of passing it. Civil Bill is also coming from the committee. Taking into account the technical limits of policies and programs and budget, education, civil and other bills should be prepared to be passed in this session,' he said .
