For the youth of remote parts of Karnali and Far West, starting an enterprise at home is a dream. Most of them go to big cities like Delhi, Mumbai in India for employment or go to Himachal to carry loads of apples and dig roads in Kalapahar. However, the Rawat brothers of Jumla Tila Rural Municipality-1 have become an inspiration for the local youth by running an ice cream business in their own place.

The ice cream business of four brothers namely Jetha Dhan Bahadur, Maila Mohanraj, Saila Nandu and younger Virender is very attractive. They decorate the ice cream in the cart in the morning.

and sells ice cream in the squares and streets of Khalanga all day long. The Raut brothers, who have been selling ice cream for a year, have started calling them 'ice cream dai'. Their ice cream sells well in summer. The number of people ordering ice cream by phone has also increased. "Earlier, I used to feel awkward while carrying baskets, now I see a future in it," says Maila Mohanraj.

How did the plan to trade ice cream in the Himalayan district of Jumla come about? Mohanraj left Nepalgunj two years ago to raise chickens. On the road, I saw a cart selling ice cream. They didn't just buy ice cream and taste it. He also decided to return to Jumla and do ice cream business. However, it was not possible alone. The brothers agreed to his proposal. Mohanraj says that no one was doing ice cream business in Jumla, the heat was getting hotter and the products could be made cheaply.

Invested 19 lakh rupees for three refrigerators, four carts and other goods. The brand of ice cream is also jurae, pooja. There are two machines for making ice cream. They do not use milk from outside. They buy milk from local cows. They make kulfi, baraf and other dishes by boiling all night.

"Our aim is to encourage local farmers as well," Dhan Bahadur said. So far, 2.2 million has been invested in the business. After few years of snow in Khalanga, ice cream business has started in the winter months. Dhan Bahadur said that despite the relatively low sales in the winter season, business is going on throughout the twelve months.

Locals are also shocked when the ice cream bags that are available in some shops of the market have started reaching the village. Their ice cream is the choice of everyone from old age, youth to children. Serving more than 300 customers daily.

Jumla bus park, airport area, from Jumla Multipurpose Campus to Balmandir area their cart runs throughout the day. We earned 8 lakhs in the first year. We have set a target of earning 8/9 lakh rupees this year as well,' said Mohanraj.
