Anti-constitutional activities are not acceptable: Home Minister Author

Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has said that anti-constitutional activities will not be acceptable under any circumstances. While inaugurating the Gandaki Provincial Security Conference in Pokhara today, the Home Minister made it clear that anti-constitutional activities and actions that cause instability in the name of former monarchists or in any other name are unforgivable.

He expressed the opinion that all preparations should be made to protect the current constitution obtained through self-sacrificing struggle. Reminding that Nepal has had seven constitutions in the past seven decades, he mentioned that the current constitution is the most advanced democratic constitution in the world. He said, 'Criticism, criticism and various activities can be done within the constitution. However, anti-constitutional activities and supporting murderous violence, chaotic activities of throwing down the constitution are punishable according to the law.'

The minister mentioned that the protection of the constitution is the need of the moment and said that in the context of the completion of 10 years of the current constitution, revisions and reforms will be made as necessary by making necessary reviews and maintaining consensus with all stakeholders.

He said that the increasing use of drugs, suicide, vehicle accidents, cyber crime, natural disasters etc. have emerged as challenges in recent times, so the government is constantly working towards their solution. Also, he urged them to leave no stone unturned to be accountable to the public while making service delivery efficient.

The minister emphasized that since the chief district officer in the district is the representative of the federal government, coordination between the union, state and local levels should be carried out by making service delivery citizen-friendly and technology-friendly.

Government's preparation for natural disasters

The Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, mentioned that the province is vulnerable to natural disasters and informed that the government is continuously working on disaster reduction and management. He said that a special fund of not less than 10 million rupees has been allocated for response to natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and earthquakes, and necessary equipment has been supported. He also mentioned the operation of Korla border crossing and opined that it should be organized more.

Handover of emergency godown house

The minister handed over the emergency godown house under the union to the state government of Gandaki. During a ceremony, the home minister, the writer, formally handed over the warehouse to the chief minister of the state, Pandey.

According to him, the warehouse built to increase the emergency provision capacity in Gandaki province will make a significant contribution to effective relief management during the crisis.

The Home Minister said that cooperation between the central, provincial and local levels is indispensable for disaster reduction and management.

Chief Minister Pandey said that with the transfer of warehouses, the rescue work will be done easily through the 'one-door system'. Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi expressed the view that such structures are necessary at all local levels, saying that warehouses will assist in search and rescue in emergency situations.
