The case against 7 people, including Ravi Lamichhane, the chairman of RSVP and the then managing director of Gorkha Media Network, has been postponed. The petition filed by the District Public Prosecutor's Office against the decision of District Court Kaski in Pokhara High Court and other related petitions were scheduled for Thursday.
Ram Bahadur Khanal, the defendant of cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering, also filed an application in the higher court against the application of the public prosecutor's office. Nil Prasad Paneru, information officer of the High Court of Pokhara, said that after the lawyers of Khanal postponed the filing of Thursday's filing, the filing of all related petitions was also postponed. "Since it is only one case, after one person submitted an application, other cases were also stopped because of that," he said.
Judge Nitij Rai of District Court Kaski ordered the release of Ravi along with Chabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Krishna Bahadur Gurung, Mina Gurung, Aarti Gurung on bail. Against this decision, the government filed a petition in the Pokhara High Court with the demand that it should be held in custody. The defendant also filed an application against the government's application. Therefore, the High Court will put the petitions of both parties together and give a verdict.
In this petition, the Pokhara High Court will decide one of the following: to send the defendant released from the district to prison, to uphold the district's decision to release him, or to release him without bail.
