Vice-Chancellor and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has given the responsibility of Acting Vice-Chancellor to Tribhuvan University Rector Khadg KC on Tuesday. In the University Act, there is a provision that the rector can be given the responsibility of acting vice chancellor for a maximum of 3 months when the vice chancellor is vacant.
During that period, a 3-member vice-chancellor selection and recommendation committee should be formed under the coordination of the Minister of Education and the process of appointment should be started. KC reached the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers office and informed that he understood the appointment letter.
Last Thursday, Chancellor Oli accepted the resignation of Vice Chancellor Kesharjung Baral on March 15. Although the resignation was accepted, the reason was not specified at that time.
Baral has said that he resigned due to the non-cooperation and interference of Prime Minister KP Oli. He was appointed Vice-Chancellor on February 10, 2080. He resigned in 13 months.
