The ruling party UML has become suspicious after the statement of Maoist President Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who unconditionally supports the Congress to form a new alliance and the dissatisfaction of the Congress leaders towards the government, has become public.
The UML's secretariat meeting held on Monday decided to discuss the political mechanism with the Congress due to the growing dissatisfaction with the working style of the government, while the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has started preparations for talks with the Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, according to UML leaders.
Congress leader Shekhar Koirala, Chief Minister Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the government's functioning, UML decided to discuss the mechanism to resolve it, UML Senior Vice President Ishwar Pokharel said.
"One line within the Congress has been expressing dissatisfaction with the government since the beginning. Congress President Deuba is firm on the agreement between the two parties. If there is any doubt about the government, it has been discussed at the highest political level," says Pokharel.
'Congress President Sher Bahadurji is firm in consensus. Congress, UML agreement is not above. The foundation of trust has not been broken," said Pokharel, who is also a member of the political system. There are some questions that need to be discussed in the political system.' Senior Vice President Pokharel, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Prime Minister's Political Advisor Bishnu Rimal are members from UML.
Dahal, the leader of the main opposition party, said that it is not new to say that the government will fall, and Pokharel said that Tush, who was out of power, was still left behind. After Dahal claimed at a public event that the 'new basis' for the collapse of the Oli government has been formed, the UML has become suspicious of the role of some Congress leaders. Oli has started preparations to discuss this with Congress Chairman Deuba. According to UML sources, Oli wanted to understand Deuba's opinion after the government's working style was criticized by the founding leaders of the Congress.
How appropriate is it for Congress leaders in the system to publicly criticize the government? It is necessary to have a conversation between the two top leaders and the mechanism,' says one of the leaders of UML, 'Is it a criticism of the government for public consumption or is it a serious problem?
There is a difference between the Congress and the UML on the appointment of the governor of the National Bank. Despite the formation of a two-party recommendation committee, no agreement has been reached on the appointment of the governor. Oli, who agreed to remove Kulman Ghising, executive director of the Electricity Authority, on the insistence of Congress President Deuba and Foreign Minister Arju Rana, is in favor of appointing someone close to him in the appointment of the governor.
Dahal, who has been saying that he will not stay in the government until the 2084 elections, has started to look towards power. For that, he has started publicly saying that he supports the Congress unconditionally. He insisted that the Oli government will not be gone for long in Chitwan and claimed that the ground has been formed. Dahal has sent a message of unconditional support to Congress president Deuba if he is ready to break the alliance with UML. Deuba's opinion about this has not been made public.
Before that, in an interview with Image Television, he said that the political course change was not a dream but a reality. "This is not a dream, it is a dream," said Dahal, "the political course can change." The government is led by a large party and the signing of the peace agreement. I have faith in Deuba (Sher Bahadur). Deuba will not cheat like KP Oliji. He claimed that he did not want to set a time for the change of government but that the government would change at any time.
Dahal said that the next political course is that the best option is for the Congress and the fellow travelers of the peace agreement to come together and find an agreement. "Even as the largest party, even as the signatory party of the peace agreement, the Congress should dare to give a solution," in an interview of Image Television, if the government is formed under the leadership of the Congress, will the Maoists help? To the question, Dahal said, "It does." It is done according to the wishes of the Congress. This is very clear. Even if Congress supports us from outside, we are ready. Even if the Congress tells them to come and support the government, it will be according to their words.
On Monday, the UML secretariat meeting concluded that although there is dissatisfaction within the Congress, there is no condition for the government to collapse because they have faith in Congress President Deuba. "There was a discussion in the secretariat to discuss with the Congress to carry out the work of the government effectively," Vice President Yuvraj Gyawali said, "Even though Prachanda tried to play within the Congress, the situation of the government is not at the bottom." Prime Minister Oli is dissatisfied with the work of some Congress ministers. Oli has been suggested to remove the minister who is not working, but he has not been able to change the minister because of the power alliance.
"Despite suggesting to the Prime Minister to replace the minister who is not working, it has not been done because of Congress President Deuba," said an official of the UML, "That is why the government has not been able to work as it has been told." Criticism is coming at a fast pace.
The UML secretariat meeting has also decided to hold a large workers' gathering in Kathmandu on May 9 and a conference of youth under 40 years on May 11 on the occasion of the CPN Foundation Day.
