The Narayanghat-Butwal section of the east-west highway will be closed at night from today for road expansion. The road is going to be closed at night from today to speed up the road expansion.
According to Engineer Shiv Khanal, Information Officer of Narayanghat-Butwal Road Plan Eastern Section, the traffic operation has been suspended from 11 pm to 5 am today in the Down section. He said that from today till the 15th of Baisakh, vehicles will be stopped for 6 hours every night to repair and expand the roads of Daunnekhand. From last March 27th to 31st, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, the road was extended by stopping the traffic operation in that section.
'There is 110 meters of mountain cutting work left in the hilly area of Daunne,' he said, 'The road is closed to cut the mountain wall at night because it is easy to work only by stopping the vehicles in the narrow area.' Khanal informed that the work of cutting the wall on the mountain of Daunne can be done in 15 days and the work has progressed by arranging lights at night as required. According to Khanal, four kilometers of roads are difficult in the eastern part of the hills in the 14-kilometer area.
Out of the 114 kilometers of Narayanghat-Butwal section, 100 kilometers will be expanded to four lanes and 14 kilometers of the road in Downe will be expanded to three lanes. According to Khanal, work is being done to have extra service lanes on both sides of urban roads. According to Khanal, 70 culverts will have to be constructed in the eastern section of Downe alone. He said that after closing the highway, the potholes in the road will be repaired and then the work of cutting the mountain wall will be carried forward. Due to the general rain that fell in the last week of March, there was difficulty in operating vehicles on the roads here due to mud.
