See the major events of Nepal in 2081 in the timeline

Like the previous years, the year 2081 also came to be discussed due to political, economic and social and disaster events.

The two main political parties of the country joined together to form the government and the demonstration in support of the former king, the co-operative case, natural disasters and accidents with huge loss of life and ordinances, the arrest of the chairman of the National Independent Party, Ravi Lamichhane, and the dismissal of the executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, were discussed. Various major events in the year 2081 are as follows:

Political events

17th Baisakh - Daman Bahadur Bhandari of CPN (UML) won in the by-elections held in Provincial Assembly 1 of Bajhang district.
May 18th – Suhang Nemwang of CPN (UML) won in the by-election of Ilam Constituency No. 2.
Baisakh 27th – CPN (UML) parliamentary party leader Hikmat Kumar Karki was appointed as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province for the third time.
June 4th - Agreement between the three parties in power and the main opposition party to form a parliamentary inquiry committee regarding the financial embezzlement in the cooperative.
7th June - Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' received a vote of confidence for the fourth time from the House of Representatives.
June 14th – Supreme Court's order to appoint Surendraraj Pandey of Nepali Congress as Chief Minister, making the vote of confidence of Gandaki Province Chief Minister Khagraj Adhikari unconstitutional.
May 23 - Madhes Chief Minister Saroj Yadav failed to get a vote of confidence.
May 25th - Satish Kumar Singh appointed as Chief Minister of Madhes Province.
June 19th - CPN (UML), the largest party in the power coalition, withdrew its support to the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
June 20th – Madhav Kumar Nepal re-elected unanimously as the president of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist).
June 22- Madhes Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh received vote of confidence.
June 28 - Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' resigned after not receiving a vote of confidence.
30th of June - Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (UML) KP Sharma Oli appointed as Prime Minister.
July 6 - Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli received a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives.
8th July – Bahadur Singh Lama (Tamang) of Nepali Congress was appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.
July 20th – Kamal Bahadur Shah of Nepali Congress was appointed as the Chief Minister of Far Paschim Province for the second time.
31st of August - Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee recommended action against the Gorkha Media.
8th of January - suspension of the post of Member of the House of Representatives, Ravi Lamichhane.
Chait 5th – Independent Student Union Election.
Chait 15th – Two people including journalist Suresh Rajak were killed, injured, public and private properties were arson and vandalized in the demonstration in Tinkune of Kathmandu in support of former king Gyanendra Shah, curfew order by District Administration Office Kathmandu.
Chait 20th - The teachers' movement started in Kathmandu on the call of the Nepal Teachers' Federation.

11th of Baisakh - Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani paid a state visit to Nepal.
June 27 - Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' participated in the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
June 29 - President Ramchandra Paudel leaves for Geneva during his official foreign visit.
June 1 - President Ramchandra Poudel on a visit to Germany.
August 10th - Foreign Minister of Oman Syed Badrwin Hamad bin Hamud Abu Saidi on a visit to Nepal.
October 4th – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli left for New York to participate in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.
October 25th - President Ramchandra Paudel left for Azerbaijan representing Nepal at the United Nations General Assembly on Climate Change (COP 29).
November 16th – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli leaves for a visit to China.
March 19 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official visit to Thailand and departure to Thailand to participate in the sixth summit of BIMSTEC, meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the visit.

Baisakh 13th – Rautahat district court sentenced four people including former minister Aftaw Alam to life imprisonment.
Baisakh 27- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) issued an arrest warrant against 20 people for misusing the land of the Nepal Children's Organization (Baalmandir) in Naxal, Kathmandu.
June 2- Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of the national cricket team, was acquitted by the Patan High Court in the rape case.
October 2- Former Home Minister and National Independent Party Chairman Ravi Lamichhane arrested.
October 20th - Gandaki Provincial Assembly member Rajiv Gurung alias 'Deepak Manange' was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Supreme Court in the industry case of murder.
Chait 5th - Foreign currency worth about 25 million rupees was recovered from Tokha in Kathmandu.
Chait 29th – Controversial medical practitioner Durga Prasai Jhapa, who absconded after the violent demonstration in Tinkune, Kathmandu, was arrested.

On 3rd of Baisakh- Nagadhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel under the tunnel project was paved.
on January 13th - The tunnel of Siddhababa Surungmarg of national pride was broken in seven months.

Economic activity

May 15th – Third investment conference in Kathmandu, investors from 52 countries in Nepal.
June 15th - The government announced the next fiscal year 2081-82 as the year of economic reform and presented a budget of Rs. 18 trillion 60 billion 300 million.

Sports and Mountaineering

June 9th - record-breaking mountaineer Kamirita Sherpa on the summit of Mount Everest for the 30th time.

June 19 to June 15 – Nepal participated in the ICC Men's T-20 Cricket World Cup held in the United States and the West Indies. Even though Nepal left the league stage, impressive performance.
January 6th – Janakpur Bolts Nepal Premier League (NPL) champions.

On June 9th - A case was filed against the Chief Secretary Dr. Vaikunth Aryal in the special court of Kathmandu by the Authority Abuse Investigation Commission on charges of corruption. Liladevi Gadtaula, senior secretary, is the acting chief secretary.

July 30th - The House of Representatives passed the Amendment Bill on the Tracing, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Disappeared Persons Act.
August 13th – Eknarayan Aryal appointed as Chief Secretary.
November 14th – The then Chief Secretary Dr. Vaikunth Aryal was acquitted by a special court.
November 2- Former speaker Damnath Dhungana passed away.

February 3 - Attack on Nepalese peacekeepers deployed in the warring country of Lebanon at the call of the United Nations.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality Chief Dhanraj Acharya were injured when a balloon burst during the opening ceremony of Pokhara Tourism Year 2025.

June 28- Two buses carrying 62 passengers disappeared in the Trishuli river when a landslide occurred in Simaltal under the Narayangadh-Muglin section.
July 9th - 18 people died when a Sourya Air plane flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara crashed inside the Tribhuvan International Airport complex.
23rd July- Five people died in an Air Dynasty helicopter accident within a few moments of taking off from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
August 3 – Eight died in landslides in Bajhang, Jajarkot and Syangja.
August 7- 27 dead, 16 injured when a bus carrying Indian tourists crashed on Prithvi Highway in Ambukhaireni.
August 9- Six people were killed when a landslide swept away a village in Doramba Sailung Rural Municipality-3, Tokarpur, Ramechhap.
October 12th - 90 people died and 72 were injured in floods and landslides due to incessant rain.
October 13th - 35 people died when two microbuses and one bus coming to Kathmandu fell into a landslide in the Jhyaple River due to two days of rain.
October 17th - Temal Rural Municipality-2 of Kavre in a landslide in Dhden Pakha, six members of the same family died.
On October 30th- Five died and 12 were injured in an accident on a night bus going from Mahendranagar to Purchaundi in Baitadi.
November 14th – Five died in a car accident in Gokulganga Rural Municipality-6 of Ramechhap.
