Solar Airlines set to return to flight, test flight on Friday after 8 months

The domestic airline company Sourya Airlines, which was shut down by the Civil Aviation Authority after an accident in July after taking off from Kathmandu for Pokhara, has received permission for a test flight after 8 months.

According to Gyanendra Bhul, co-spokesperson of the authority, only one of the two CRJ-200ER aircraft owned by Sourya was issued a test flight permit by the authority on Thursday. Solar's CRJ, which has the registration number 'Alpha November Mike' in the authority, is going to make a test flight in the skies around Kathmandu on Friday. This aircraft is not allowed to go outside the skies over Kathmandu.

There is a rule to have a 'Certificate of Air Ordinance' before resuming operation of airline companies and aircraft that have been closed for a long time . Vivechan Khanal, manager of Sourya's operations department, submitted a request to the authority on Wednesday stating that the company is now safe for flight and has met all the necessary technical standards.

According to the permission issued by the authority, Captain Anup Thapa and another trainer pilot Dharmendra Singh will conduct a test flight on Friday . Three aircraft-related engineers will also be involved in this flight. During the flight, they will test the systems, equipment, navigation, etc. involved in the various flights of the aircraft. "The purpose of such a flight is to verify that all technical aspects work properly and the aircraft can fly safely," said co-spokesperson Bhul. After the completion of this flight, the pilot and engineer have to submit a technical report to the authority.

On July 8, Sourya's CRJ plane flying for a repositioning flight to Pokhara crashed in the northeastern part of Kathmandu airport, killing 18 people. Most of them were solar technicians. Only one captain was rescued alive in that accident. He is currently undergoing treatment.

The preliminary report of the accident showed that the accident was caused by improper loading of the ship, abnormal flight speed, etc. . The accident investigation committee published a detailed report. Not done . Sourya, which was flying only to Bhadrapur and Biratnagar with a total of three aircraft, had only two CRJ aircraft after the accident. Only one of them is flyable. Maintenance of another aircraft is in progress.

'We are carrying out a test flight tomorrow (Friday) after fulfilling all the manpower and standards that are vacant after the accident. We have prepared to return to commercial flights by following the following procedures,' Sourya president Deepak Pokharel told Kantipur, 'There is a plan to complete the test flight of another CRJ within a few months after the test flight of this aircraft.' Our main investor, Indian Kuber Group in Dubai, is preparing to purchase ATR-600 aircraft. The company's plan is to sell both CRJ aircraft after bringing ATR into flight, said Pokharele, currently in Mumbai, India, to Kantipur. Currently, the CRJ aircraft with Solar has a passenger capacity of 50.
