Senior advocate Vijay Prasad Mishra has made the initial lead as the president of Nepal Bar Association. Mishra took the initial lead with 191 votes as the chairman of the 27th central working committee of the association, which is an umbrella organization of legal professionals. Similarly, his rival senior advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha has got 96 votes.
So far Mishra has got 37 votes from Ilam Bar, 32 from Jhapa, 22 from Biratnagar High Bar, 36 from Morang, 38 from Sunsari and 26 from Dhankuta. Similarly, Shrestha got 23 from Elam, 17 from Jhapa, He got 25 votes from Biratnagar High Bar, 10 from Morang, 16 from Sunsari and 28 from Dhankuta. Elections were held on Saturday to select the new leadership of
association. There were 9,957 voters from all over the country in the bar, and 80 percent of the votes were cast. Voting was held in a total of 36 polling stations in Kathmandu and outside. Senior advocate Vijay Prasad Mishra from broad democratic, progressive, professional, nationalistic and inclusive legal practitioner group and senior advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha from professional legal practitioner group are competing for the new leadership of the bar.
In the group of senior advocate Mishra, senior advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala is the general secretary, while in the group of senior advocate Shrestha, advocate Yagyamani Neupane is the candidate for the post of general secretary.
